About

Dr Adam Bisaga is an academic addiction psychiatrist, a dedicated educator, and an expert clinician. He is a Professor of Psychiatry at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, and a Research Scientist at New York State Psychiatric Institute. His NIH-funded research is focused on development and implementation of new medications and protocols to treat opioid and other substance use disorders. Dr Bisaga authored more than 100 scientific publications and published a book “Overcoming Opioid Addiction“ written for both professional and lay audiences. In his commitment to medical education Dr. Bisaga serves as co-director of the SAMHSA-supported “Providers’ Clinical Support System (PCSS)” a national initiative to train providers and implement effective treatments for opioid use disorders. His expertise is recognized globally, he is a member of UN Office of Drugs and Crime Expert Panel and a WHO consultant and actively collaborates with United Nations agencies to train healthcare providers and develop international treatment guidelines and programs. Additionally, Dr Bisaga is at the forefront of integrating technology in addiction healthcare as the Medical Director of Ophelia, a telehealth company specializing in the treatment of opioid use disorder.
